The Reliability of the Bible | 1
Preacher: John Overton
Date: 15th May, 2022
Passage: John 20:30-31
Blurb: How do we know that Jesus was a real historical figure? Can we trust that the New Testament is trustworthy and reliable? In this sermon John Overton engages in the work of an historian to provide strong evidence for the reliability of the accounts in the New Testament. His exploration includes evidence in non-biblical texts, the dating and sheer volume of New Testament manuscripts; the willingness of the early disciples to suffer for their cause; as well as the writings of early church fathers that were one person removed from the apostles. These well-reasoned arguments are presented to show that there are historical grounds for believing that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God.
